Welcome To Austin Bass Club!

ABC is a TABC Member Club

Austin Bass Club is proud to be affiliated with the Texas Association of Bass Clubs.  TABC was organized in April of 1971 as a non-profit organization to work for Texas anglers. The organization was and ever shall be dedicated to the preservation or our sport, the conservation of our resources, and involvement with our Texas youth for the future of our State and the promotion of our sport.

Austin Bass Club participates in TABC's annual State Championship tournament, where we earned first place in  2004, and 2nd Place in 2017.

Oldest continuously operating bass club in Texas

Austin Bass Club was founded in September 1960 by a group of men who were interested in participating in the newly established sport of competitive bass fishing, and in doing so in a fun and friendly environment.

For nearly 60 years we have enjoyed good fellowship and friendly competition fishing on the many outstanding lakes in the Austin area and across the great state of Texas.

A major emphasis of our club is to share our love of bass fishing and our collective knowledge and experience with other interested anglers.  Beginners and experienced anglers, boaters and non-boaters - you are welcome to visit a meeting or fish a tournament as a guest to see if our club is a good fit for you.

We conduct monthly meetings at 7pm on the first Tuesday of the month at VFW Post 8787, located at 500 VFW Road, Austin TX 78753.

Tournament dates and lakes are voted on by the members.  We fish most of the Central Texas lakes and typically venture out to other Texas trophy lakes for two-day tournaments twice per year.

Teamwork is the Key!

ABC tournaments are structured as team events.  We conduct monthly tournaments in both "Buddy" and "Draw" formats.  Each angler on the team can catch and weigh a legal limit of bass.  The combined weights of each team are then used to determine the tournament results.

A prize is also paid for Big Bass of the tournament provided it weighs at least 6 pounds.

Individual angler results are  tracked and added throughout the year to determine our Angler of the Year based on total weight, along with our Big Bass of the Year Award.
In Austin Bass club we love catching fish, and we want all members to be successful!  After every tournament the top finishers share information about their strategies and tactics.   In addition we conduct "Draw" tournaments which are a great way to fish with different partners and learn new techniques.  ABC anglers are always willing to help newcomers learn more about bass fishing by sharing tips and experiences.

"Roughly 3 years ago I didn't even know what kind of rod to buy for bass fishing so thanks to Austin Bass Club for showing me the way! If it wasn't for the advice given after tournaments I would have probably thrown my rods in a lake a long time ago."

State Championship Team
An annual highlight for the club is our participation in the TABC State Championship Tournament where we get to match our skills and luck against other clubs from across the State of Texas.
Each team at the tournament sends 4 boats and 8 anglers.  Participation on the Austin Bass Club Team is an honor and is based on individual results from the club tournaments during the prior year.  The "Top Eight" anglers based on total annual tournament weights are granted spots on the team.

We are very proud of our 2017 team that brought home 2nd place at Falcon Lake under very challenging conditions.  We are looking forward to next year and hope to bring home the Championship!
